Abstract:
This project examines the interconnected nature of networked rhetorics and the complications they present for traditional notions concerning textual ownership. Using Foucault's construction of the author-as-function as a base, I will examine workplace blogs and wikis in order to gain a better understanding of how these digital texts are created. I will also consider the ways their internetworked nature challenges current intellectual property law and creates a space for copyright alternatives such as Creative Commons and Open Source licenses. Hopefully, this analysis will enrich the current discussion surrounding corporate contributions to the digital information commons.
